Our tour starts at Boraldai Airport, where we take a helicopter and fly to Ili Valley. From the height of the flight, you will see a panorama and a grandiose large-scale shooting of the film “Nomads” - an epoch-making feature film about the ancient ancestors of the Kazakhs - nomads.

In ancient times, in the Ili valley there were large areas of Kazakh tribes, according to Chinese sources, known as Saki and Usun. In chronological order, the time of the existence of the tribes living in the valley is equal to the first millennium (VII century BC - IV century BC).

The picture of the past “Nomads”, successfully shown in cinemas in 2005, was shown on the left bank of the r. Or. The medieval landscape of Kazakhstan has been preserved; architectural monuments were recreated; smaller version of the fortress Otrar. The majestic landscape was built according to historical facts. Even building materials are the same as the Kazakhs used at that time - wood and saman. The film is based on the second book of the trilogy "Nomads" Ilyas Essemberlina. The boy Mansur was chosen by God to become a great warrior, to unite scattered Kazakh tribes and to banish the Zhungar horde from the Kazakh steppes forever. This film is dedicated to true love and unselfish friendship, love for its people, based on historical events that occurred in the XVIII century. The historical background of the film is the story of Abylay Khan.

The film "The Nomad" - the first collaboration with Hollywood filmmakers. Screenwriter Rustam Ibragimbekov wrote a parable inspired by the history of the Kazakh Khans 300 years ago, and invited Milos Forman to gather actors and professionals from around the world. The film's budget amounted to 34 million dollars.
