Charyn Canyon

Charyn canyon is one of the unique natural monuments of Kazakhstan. Charyn Canyon is about 12 million years old, it surprises with its vertical rocks, resembling ancient castles created by winds, sun and rain.

The length of the Charyn canyon is 154 km along the Charyn River. The canyon is located 195 km east of Almaty, near the border with China. The canyon enters the territory of the Charyn National Park, established in 2004. Travel time to the canyon is about 3 hours. At the same time, you will hear a lot of interesting things about the history and nature of the region and learn more about the Kazakh people, their life and traditions. Lunch at a local cafe.

And as soon as you see the Charyn canyon, you will forget about the long journey, you will be impressed and amazed by the beauty and magnificence of the canyon. The height of the mountain of the vertical canyon reaches 150-300 m. The most interesting place for tourists is the so-called "Valley of Castles", whose length is about 2 km, width - 20-80 meters. There are more than 1,500 plant species, 17 of which are listed in the Red Book of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and 62 species of mammals, 103 species of nesting birds and 25 species of reptiles
